A centre a family can actually rely on.
We are not a boutique preschool and we are not trying to be. We are the centre on the corner that opens at six, answers the phone in two languages, publishes its prices, and is still open when your shift runs late.
Why we run it this way
Bright Start exists because of a gap that anyone who has worked a 7 am shift knows about. Opening at 6:30 or 7:00, and combining rooms at both ends of the day, is a common and perfectly legal way to run a centre. If you clock in at seven, that is not childcare — that is a problem you have to solve some other way.
So we open at six, with the infant room fully staffed, and we do not combine rooms at open or close. It costs more to run. It is also the single reason most of our families are here.
The second reason is the language. More than half the households we serve speak Spanish at home. That does not mean a Spanish-speaking receptionist. It means every classroom has a teacher who speaks Spanish natively, circle time happens in both languages, and every form, menu, daily sheet and incident report exists in Spanish before anyone asks for it.
The third is that we publish our prices and our ratios. That should not be unusual. It is.
What we think we owe you
Hours that match a shift
Six in the morning until half past six at night, one price for the whole day, no hourly surcharge and no penalty for using the hours you paid for.
Ratios better than the minimum
A state minimum is a floor, not a standard. We staff above it in every room and we publish both numbers side by side so you can check.
Two languages, equally
You can enrol, ask a question, raise a complaint and read your child’s progress note entirely in Spanish, from people who speak it as a first language.
Straight answers, in writing
Prices on the website. Ratios on the website. A daily sheet at pick-up. An incident report the same day. If something went wrong, you hear it from us first.
Who you will actually meet
These three are the people you will see most, and this is what each of them is responsible for. Texas sets the training, background-check and director-qualification requirements for these roles; we have not listed anyone’s individual certificates here, because these are demonstration profiles and the portraits are illustrations rather than photographs. Centre Director
Parents do not need me to talk about philosophy. They need to know what time we open, what it costs, and whether there is a spot. Everything else comes after those three answers.
What this role is responsible for
- Answers the phone, and is the person you meet on a tour
- Sets the staffing plan for every room, every day, including who covers a break
- Signs the incident report you get the same day something happens
- Handles CCS paperwork with you and with the workforce board

Infant room lead
A six-week-old cannot tell you they had a bad morning. So we write everything down and hand it to you at the door.
What this role is responsible for
- Opens the infant room at six, before the first family arrives
- Writes the daily sheet — feeds, nappies, sleep, mood — and hands it to you at the door
- Keeps the sleep log, and checks every cot on the schedule the state sets
- Is the person who calls you first if anything changes

Preschool and Pre-K lead
Half my class arrives speaking Spanish at home. The point is not to replace it. The point is that they walk into kindergarten with both.
What this role is responsible for
- Runs circle time in Spanish and in English, every day, not on alternate weeks
- Keeps the kindergarten-readiness notes you see twice a year
- Plans the outdoor block, which is two hours a day in two pieces
- Talks to your child’s future school when the transition starts
The building
- Five classrooms, a gym, a shaded outdoor yard with rubber safety surfacing, and a separate stroller yard for the infant room.
- A commercial kitchen on site. We cook here; nothing is delivered in a warmer.
- Keypad entry, a front desk you have to pass, and a sign-in tablet at the door.
- Two vehicles for the school routes, both inspected on the state’s schedule.
